English Philosopher Sir Francis Bacon coined the famous quote, “Knowledge is power,” during his lifetime, which spanned the years between 1561 and 1626.

That statement is only partially true today. We are in an era of instant information and it is up to us as individuals – both students and adults – to take advantage of this and commit some of it to knowledge, then use that knowledge.

To say knowledge is power would mean academics rule the world but Dr. Fournier is the quick to say that knowledge in itself is not power; rather the application of knowledge is what creates the power within.

There is a wealth of information at our fingertips on YouTube™ and is it as valuable as we choose to make it.

These informational videos that can be accessed in an instant have already proven to millions to be helpful in our everyday quest for better grades as students and success in the workplace as adults.

These videos can also provide us with a foundation to form opinions so that we may be active on social and political issues. After all, it is up to us to change the world and that starts with information access, learning and application of the knowledge we learn.
